My name is Jim Sawtelle. I started Lakota Outfitters Sporting Club in 2015.

I grew up in North Iowa along the Iowa River. As a student at the University of Iowa, I took many long walks along the Iowa River with the girl who would later become my wife and the mother of our four wonderful children. This is the same river that courses through Lakota Outfitters Sporting Club, creating an unrivaled woodland and prairie habitat with abundant whitetail deer, upland game and waterfowl.

Some of my earliest and best memories from childhood are times spent hunting and fishing this river alongside my dad with our two Brittany Spaniels. Whether we were pursuing ducks or geese, pheasant or partridge, catfish or bass, turkey or deer; whether we had a bountiful hunt or came home empty-handed; the memories we shared through countless days in the field together were priceless. Those times instilled in me a love of the outdoors, an appreciation of nature, and a passion for the sporting life. Today, I’m blessed to continue this outdoor legacy with my own family as we plan our next hunt, our next fishing trip, our next horseback ride, our next walk in the woods . . . .

We hope to see you soon out in the field.
